January 25th is the birthday of Robert Burns, Scotland's (unofficial) National Bard.
Born in 1759 in Ayrshire, Scotland, Robert Burns became a "literary celebrity" for his numerous poems and songs.
So lift your glasses to Robert Burns who gave us these quotes (among many, many others):
"Ah wad some power the giftie gie us
To see ourselves as others see us."
"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley."
"My love is like a red, red rose
That 's newly sprung in June"

March is almost over and although we had quite a bit of snow over the month we are looking forward to April showers and flowers and budding trees and plants. Also looking forward to the start of the festival saeson which for me starts in May in West Virginia then Fairhill, Maryland. Check my schedule for the rest of the year. I will be back in Enunclaw this July after Grandfather Mountain but I'm trying to keep close to home for the most part, avoiding long distance travel. I am once again limiting my performances to a certain number so I can enjoy free time playing golf, hiking, kayaking among other thing. I am also working on volume 3 & 4 of the sea/ pirate/shanties CDs as volume 1&2 double CD is selling so well. My book, "A Touch of the Fae" is slowly but surely coming along but I will not predict a release date as I realise just how long writng a book takes, at least for me. It's all about Scottish children discovering their gift of the Fae and their subsiquent adventures with different faeries. My first book, "Now's The Day And Now's The Hour" all about the Scotch-Irish influences in early Texas and The Alamo is available on different versions on ebooks for just $0.99 in case anyone is interested, check it out on Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. The double CD music version is a good companion to the book. You can of course buy both from my website. Hey that's it for now, back at you soon when more news pops up. Cheers, Carl

Happy St Patrick's Day!
I've been a wild rover for many a year
And I spent all my money on whiskey and beer,
And now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more.
Chorus:
And it's no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more.
I went to an ale-house I used to frequent
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, she answered me "nay
Such a custom as yours I could have any day."
Chorus
I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight.
She said "I have whiskey and wines of the best
And the words that I spoke sure were only in jest."
Chorus
I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And if they caress me as ofttimes before
Sure I never will play the wild rover no more.
Chorus

Happy New Year!
It's 2013 and time for a much needed and anticipated change!
The newly re-designed darachweb store is ready for your business!
On October 1, 2012 our credit card processor told us they were ceasing business on Dec 31, 2012. It was the kick in the pants we needed to finally implement a re-design of the darachweb website (which hadn't changed since the mid 1990's). Work had already started on the re-design but was kicked into high-gear on that day in October.
There are still a couple tweaks we want to make, but the site is ready for business!
Try it, you'll like it!

Foxburg Golf Tournament
Spent a lovely weekend in Foxburg, PA for their 4th Scottish Festival.
The weather was perfect, the crowds were great and the events kept everyone busy and entertained: highland games, sheep herding, dog agility, musicians, dancers, a storyteller, Gaelic lessons, carriage rides, vendors, Scottish food, wine, beer, ...
Carl Peterson won this year's Golf Tournament by one stroke. In second place was last year's winner, Bob Murdoch.
